Being in the country for less than 3 weeks, I was invited to attend the Solomon Islands Football Federation Association Gala Night on Saturday, 8th May 2021. The Pacific Casino Hotel was filled with prominent individuals in society, business houses and Govt officials who attended the event on behalf of the Prime Minister.

Funds raised went to “Kurukuru”, the national futsal team who is representing the Solomon Islands in the 2021 FIFA Futsal World Cup in Lithuania in September. Not only that – funds raised will also establish the 2023 Pacific Games Football Legacy Awards and to cater for the Welfare of the National Players.

The Legacy Awards includes 20 scholarship schemes equal to men and women for studies in a local institution ranging from certificates to bachelor’s degree. It will also provide for elite player training overseas. The organizers believe the scholarship scheme leaves a lasting legacy with the participating sports men and women.

The primary objective of sponsoring this event was on the back of brand awareness for BSP Finance SI Limited in the country and more importantly in the community where we operate. Football is also a national iconic sport for the Solomon Islanders and is enjoyed from the very young to the old.
